Mayor Ed Lee
Ed Lee was the 43rd mayor of San Francisco and the first Asian American to hold the office. During his time in office, he founded the San Francisco Mayor’s Women’s Golf Council in July 2014 because of his passion for San Francisco golf and his desire to see more women play & enjoy the game. Through his dedication to the organization & the sport, he sought to use this organization to bring more awareness to the SF golf community, and hosted an annual Mayor’s Cup golf tournament to benefit a number of local charities.
Ed Lee was a great supporter of the game of golf and of women in the sport. Although he will be greatly missed by the SF golf community, this council hopes to continue carrying the torch of promoting women’s golf & increasing public access to the sport.
“Golf is a lifetime sport meant to be enjoyed by all people, and I’m proud San Francisco has the best public golf courses in America. The Women’s Golf Council is dedicated to supporting our mission to establish long lasting and positive experience in golf for our local Bay Area women and for generations of women to come.”
